Israel Hamas Ceasefire, extended for 2 more days

Earlier there was 4 days’ ceasefire, the period ceasefire tenure is going to be over. As per the conditions of the ceasefire, 50 hostages were to be released in exchange of 150 Palestinian prisoners.

There are 184 hostages are in custody of Hamas, including 14 foreign nationals.

Israel and Hamas agreed on Monday to extend their breakable truce for two more days, an act of continued cooperation that could allow for additional aid to flow into Gaza and the release of more hostages, prisoners and detainees than initially expected. Now in this extended period 20-40 more hostages are likely to be released. The extension, coming as the initial four-day truce was set to terminate on Tuesday, was announced by Qatari mediators a few hours before 11 more Israeli hostages, including 3 year old twins were released into the custody of Israel’s military late Monday.

The new releases followed an initial release of 13 Israelis on Friday, 13 more late on Saturday and 14 on Sunday. Some of those released are dual nationals.

  • The Red Cross says it has successfully facilitated the release and transfer of 11 Israeli captives held in Gaza.
  • Three Palestinian women and 30 children were freed from Israeli prisons in the fourth exchange since the Gaza truce came into effect last week.
  • 69 Hostages have been released so far.
