Palestinian Territories: Gaza Hospital Reports Casualties from Israeli Air Strike
A Gaza hospital reported on Sunday that an Israeli air strike on a house in a refugee camp resulted in at least 20 fatalities. The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital stated, “We received 20 fatalities and several wounded after an Israeli air strike targeted a house belonging to the Hassan family in Al-Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.” According to witnesses, the air strike occurred around 3:00 am local time. The Israeli army has stated that it is investigating the report.
The Palestinian official news agency Wafa reported that several children were among the wounded, and rescue teams are searching for missing individuals trapped under the rubble. Since early May, intense battles and heavy Israeli bombardments have been ongoing in the central Nuseirat camp as part of a “targeted” operation focusing on the southern city of Rafah.
In addition, Palestinian operatives and Israeli troops have been clashing in the Jabalia camp in northern Gaza for several days.
Witnesses reported that several other houses were targeted in overnight air strikes across Gaza, with additional air strikes and artillery shelling hitting parts of Rafah.
The Israeli military reported that two more soldiers were killed in Gaza the previous day, bringing the total number of soldiers killed in the Gaza military campaign to 282 since the ground offensive began on October 27.
